Your morning regulation tools are ready, five small ways back to calm

Hi, I'm Sarah, a somatic nervous system specialist, and it is such a joy to have you here. If you wake with anxiety already humming in your body, before the day has even begun, please know you are in good company.

Mornings are when we are most easily pulled into fight or flight, the children, the school run, the emails already waiting. This is not you failing at mornings. It is a nervous system doing its best to keep you safe.

These five tools are here to gently show your body the way back to calm, in the few minutes you actually have. Not an hour of sitting still, because none of us can keep that up. Small, doable, and real.

With love,

Sarah x

Your morning toolbox

Five quick practices to move from stress to steady, woven into a busy morning

Watch the video below, where I guide you through each one. There is no need to do them all. Pick the two or three you like best, set your alarm five or ten minutes earlier, and begin there.

The aim is never to add pressure to your morning. It is to give your body a way to start the day feeling a little safer.

What is inside

The five tools inside

Each one takes only a few minutes, and each gently guides your body out of stress and back towards calm.

1.

The physiological sigh

A fast and powerful way to settle. Two breaths in through your nose, then one long breath out to release. Around five rounds, and feel the shift. This is the one for when you are on the move, in the car on the school run or hurrying to work, and you need to come back to calm right now.

2.

EFT tapping

My most loved tool, and beautiful for soothing the amygdala, the stress centre in your brain. Tap through the points while naming what you feel, or simply tap in silence. If your mind is racing like a runaway train, tap slower. If you feel heavy and cannot lift yourself off the sofa, tap faster. Three rounds, around three minutes.

3.

Shaking

A wonderful way to move your nervous system out of stress, the sympathetic state, and back into rest and digest. Soften your knees, let your arms loosen and shake, and allow your body to move however it wants. Eyes closed, feeling into your body, fast or slow. A few minutes is enough to bring relief.

4.

The butterfly hug

Simple, and surprisingly strong. Wrap your arms around yourself, or interlace your fingers on your chest, and rock gently. It works a little like EMDR, soothing both sides of the brain, and it brings high anxiety down quickly. Lovely in the morning, and just as kind at night before sleep. Two to three minutes.

5.

Humming

One of my favourites, for all that it gives. Humming sends a gentle vibration through the vagus nerve and guides your body into rest and digest. You can do it anywhere, even as you get the morning ready. It does not need to be a tune, just a soft hum. And here is the loveliest part, it has a ripple effect, helping settle the people around you too, which is a real gift on a frantic morning with little ones.

 Are you ready?

Move from anxious mornings and a racing mind towards steady, settled days

→ Maybe you wake and the worry is already there, before your feet even touch the floor.

→ Maybe your mind will not switch off, even when your body is exhausted.

→ Maybe you move through the morning wired and tired at once, snapping at the people you love and hating that you do.

→ Maybe you have tried so many things already, and started to wonder whether calm mornings are simply not for you.

They are for you. What you are feeling is not a flaw. Underneath it all is a nervous system that learned to stay switched on, braced for the next thing, and was never shown the way back down.
These tools are a beautiful place to begin. But your body was made to feel safe, not only for a few minutes in the morning, but as a steady baseline.

We start at the foundations

This is where you stop fighting your body and start understanding it. Where you move from anxious mornings, burnout and overwhelm to::

A sense of safety you have not felt for years, there when you wake instead of dread
Waking with something in the tank, ready to meet your day rather than survive it
A calmer home, because your own regulation ripples out to your children too
Sleeping more soundly, and knowing how to settle yourself when you wake
Understanding what is happening in your body, so it stops being frightening and starts making sense
→ A steadiness everything else can build from

The next step

The Foundations of Regulation program

These morning tools are a beautiful start, and they can genuinely help. But if we do not tend to the foundations first, no single tool holds for long. That is why so many people come to believe they are broken, or that nothing works for them. Neither is true. They were building on ground that never felt safe. This program is where that changes. It is compact, and it is powerful.

→ Seven education videos on how your nervous system works
→ Somatic circuit breakers, the exact practice from my signature program
→ Somatic practices to bring your body back to safety
→ More EFT videos to bring your body out of survival
→ A beautiful evening somatic tool and a guided meditation
→ A guided learning journal, and access for the lifetime of the program

Top-down, where you understand what is happening inside you.

Bottom-up, where your body learns, through felt experience, that it is safe to soften.
